Is Background Checking Our Teachers Once Enough?

Nearly all school systems require teachers, substitutes and other potential school employees to undergo a background investigation before they are hired.  However, the background checking process usually ends there.  Once hired, a school employee may be involved in criminal activity that goes virtually undetected unless the crime is newsworthy or involves jail time.
